BREAKING NEWS: Nnamdi Kanu Granted Bail

A federal high court in Abuja has granted bail to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Justice Binta Nyako granted Kanu bail on “health grounds”.

Kanu, alongside other three pro-Biafra agitators, has been facing trial for treason. The other Biafran agitators are Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.

Nyako had earlier quashed six of the charges against them, but she sustained that of treason.


RCCG Woman Who Attempted Su!c!de In Lagos Arraigned, Granted N500k Bail

An Ebute-Meta Magistrates Court, Lagos, on Monday ordered a textile dealer, Titilayo Momoh, to undergo psychiatric evaluation following her arraignment by the police for attempted suicide.

Madam Titilayo, 58, was also granted N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The woman was on March 24 stopped from jumping off the 3rd Mainland Bridge into the Lagoon by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.

WIMBLEDON 2017: Tennis Champ, Serena Williams Goes On Maternity Leave

Serena Williams is going on maternity leave.

The tennis champ, who announced her pregnancy yesterday, will not compete for the rest of the 2017 season, which means she’ll miss Wimbledon, the US Open and the French Open. Her rep confirmed the news to Reuters.

Williams set the internet ablaze with excitement yesterday when she revealed she’s 20 weeks pregnant with a baby bump photo on Snapchat.


Tears Flow as Murdered Man, Wife, Son Are Buried in Lagos

Emotions ran high yesterday at Ibeshe Titun, Ikorodu, Lagos, as three family members who were mur.dered by some ass.ailants, were buried.

The late couple, Mr. Lucky Ebhodaghe and Mrs. Margaret Ebhodaghe, and their son, Jonathan, were buried in their house around 12pm amid tears.

Residents and members of the Deeper Life Bible Church, where the husband was a member of the prayer team and the wife, a worker in the ushering section, could not hide their grief.

Recall that 15-year-old Jonathan, the only child of the family, was participating in the ongoing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination when the incident happened.

It was reported that the assailants tore the window net and cut some burglar-proof bars to gain access into the house late Monday night.

The suspects were said to have inflicted machete cuts on the family members, leaving them for dead.


Unemployed Nigerian Man’s Wife Gives Birth To Quintuplets (5 Babies)

Mr Imudia Uduehi, a father of quintuplet who married less than a year ago, has appealed to all well-meaning Nigerians, philanthropists and government to support his family.

Uduehi, an unemployed graduate, from Ekpoma in Esan West LGA in Edo, made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the quintuplet was delivered at the National Hospital Abuja on April 12, adding that all the five babies and the mother were in good health.

“I am delighted and I thank God to have blessed us with these healthy children, I know it is a huge responsibility because it is not easy to raise even one child.

“I am, however, appealing to the government, well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to come and support my family in raising the children. I want everyone to see these children not just as a blessing to us but also a blessing to the entire nation,’’ Uduehi said.


BREAKING NEWS: EFCC Raids Senator’s House In Abuja

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday raided the Asokoro, Abuja home of Danjuma Goje, a former governor of Gombe State.

An eyewitness said the anti-graft agency’s operatives were at the house at about 6pm.

You may wish to know that Senator Goje, a serving senator, is currently being prosecuted by EFCC for allegedly corruptly enriching himself while he was governor of Gombe State.

Russia Bans Jehovah’s Witnesses, Labels them as “Extremist”

Russia’s Supreme Court on Thursday issued a ruling banning Jehovah’sWitnesses after the justice ministry called on it to dissolve the “extremist organisation”.

Supreme Court judge Yury Ivanenko said Russia had decided to close down “the administrative centre of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the local organisations in its fold and turn their property over to the Russian Federation.”

The decision comes after the ministry said it had found signs of “extremist activity” within the organisation and requested that it be banned. What signs?

“They represent a threat to the rights of people, public order and public safety,” Russian news agencies quoted justice ministry representative Svetlana Borisova as saying.

AFP reports that the group which has 395 centres across Russia, has vowed to appeal the decision.

“I’m shocked,” Yaroslav Sivulsky, who represents the group’s administrative centre, told reporters.


Our Officials Took N3bn Bribe To Rig 2015 Elections – INEC

The Indepedent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally suspended 205 personnel for allegedly receiving part of the N23bn “disbursed” by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to rig the 2015 general elections.

A National Commissioner and member of Information and Voter Education Committee at INEC, Mallam Mohammed Haruna, who briefed journalists after a meeting of the leadership on Tuesday, said the commission also decided to place the 205 affected officials on half salaries in accordance with the terms and conditions of service of the commission.

Mallam Haruna said the commission had referred the cases of a former National Commissioner and five former Resident Electoral Commissioners (one late) to the Presidency and EFCC for further action and investigation.

According to him, the decision to refer the national commissioner and the RECs to the Presidency and the EFCC was because it was not within the powers of the commission to deal with the cases involving them.


Patience Jonathan Storms Skye Bank After Court Unfreezes Her $5.8m Account

Following a court order that unfroze her account believed to contain about $5.8m, former first lady, Patience Jonathan, was on Monday sighted at the Maitama branch of Skye Bank in Abuja.

The Federal High Court in Lagos had on Thursday, April 6 directed that the freeze order on the account be cancelled.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the former first lady was at the Skye Bank branch on Monday until 4:05 p.m. when she departed. She declined to speak to reporters who sought to know why she was at the bank.
